The findings of the study by G Yan published in Public Health Nutrition suggest that moderate coffee consumption (approximately 2 cups per day) could be recommended as a valuable component of a healthy diet and may be an adjustable effective intervention measure to increase life expectancy. Below, we read the study also present in the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee (Isic) website.

Objective

To assess the association between coffee consumption and life expectancy among the US adults.

Design

Prospective cohort.

Setting

National representative survey in the United States, 2001-2018.

Participants

~A total of 43,114 participants aged 20 years or older with complete coffee consumption data were included from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2001-2018.

Results

Over a median follow-up of 8.7 years, 6,234 total deaths occurred, encompassing 1,929 deaths from cardiovascular disease and 1,411 deaths from cancer. Based on the nationally representative survey, it has been found that coffee consumption is associated with longer life expectancy.

The estimated life expectancy at age 50 was 30.06 years (95% confidence interval, 29.68 to 30.44), 30.82 years (30.12 to 31.57), 32.08 years (31.52 to 32.70), 31.24 years (30.29 to 32.19), and 31.45 years (30.39 to 32.60) in participants consuming 0, ≤1, 1 to ≤2, 2 to ≤3, and >3 cups of coffee per day, respectively.

Consequently, compared with non-coffee drinkers, participants who consumed 1 to ≤2 cups/day had a gain of 2.02 years (1.17 to 2.85) in life expectancy on average, attributable to a 0.61-year (29.72%) reduction in CVD deaths. Similar benefits were found in both males and females.

Conclusion

The findings suggest that moderate coffee consumption (approximately 2 cups per day) could be recommended as a valuable component of a healthy diet and may be an adjustable effective intervention measure to increase life expectancy.

Coffee bioactive compounds may influence chronic disease pathways, yet their role in MNCDs progression is unclear. Below, we share the study by Y Xue published in
Nutrition Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease, also present in the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee (Isic) website.

Background and aims:

MILAN – Global population aging has increased multimorbidity of non-communicable diseases (MNCDs). Coffee bioactive compounds may influence chronic disease pathways, yet their role in MNCDs progression is unclear. This study examines how habitual coffee intake affects transitions from first NCD to MNCDs and subsequent mortality.

Methods and results:

Based on the application of the Cox proportional hazards and multi-state models to the UK Biobank cohort data, this study found that among the 60,616 participants who developed at least one non-communicable disease (NCD), 9938 progressed to MNCDs. Compared with non-coffee drinkers, individuals consuming fewer than 3 cups of coffee daily had a reduced risk of transitioning from an NCD-free state to a first NCD [HR = 0.91, 95 %CI:0.89-0.93(0-1 cups/day); HR = 0.89, 95 %CI:0.87-0.91(1-3 cups/day)] and from a first NCD to MNCDs [HR = 0.85, 95 %CI:0.80-0.90(0-1cups/day); HR = 0.85,95 %CI:0.81-0.90(1-3cups/day)].

Conversely consuming exceeding 5 cups/day was associated with an increased risk of progression from a first NCD to MNCDs (HR = 1.26, 95 %CI:1.17-1.36) and from MNCDs to death (HR:1.19, 95 %CI:1.04-1.36).

The association between high coffee intake (>5 cups/day) and increased risk of progression to MNCDs was more pronounced in participants with the slowest caffeine metabolism (HR = 1.54, 95 %CI: 1.32-1.80), but attuned in those with the fastest caffeine metabolism (HR = 1.17, 95 %CI: 1.03-1.32).

Conclusions

Habitual coffee consumption of fewer 3 cups/day is associated with a lower risk of developing NCDs and MNCDs, whereas intake exceeding 5 cups/day increases the risk of MNCDs and mortality in those with MNCDs, particularly among individuals with slower caffeine metabolism.

A new meta-analysis suggests a protective role for coffee and tea in cancer survival, particularly for colorectal cancer. Below, we share the study by M Romelli published in Cancer Causes and Control and also present in the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee (Isic) website.

The role of coffee and tea in cancer survival

MILAN – Coffee and tea intake has been suggested to favourably affect survival of cancer patients, but studies published so far produced conflicting results. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to summarize the existing evidence on the association between coffee and tea consumption and cancer survival across different types of cancers.

Methods:

There have been included 26 prospective studies (1993-2023) involving over 40,000 cancer patients from North America, Europe, and Asia. Summary hazard ratios (SHR) comparing high versus low consumption levels were calculated using random effects meta-analysis models for recurrence/progression/death.

Results

Overall, a protective effect of coffee and tea consumption on cancer survival was suggested. High coffee and/or tea intake was associated with a 24% reduction in the cancer progression risk (SHR = 0.76, 95% CI 0.67-0.87, I2 = 57%). Subgroup analysis indicated a stronger protective effect for tea consumption (SHR = 0.64, 95% CI 0.44-0.92, I2 = 45%) compared to coffee.

The strongest evidence emerged for colorectal cancer (SHR = 0.75, 95% CI 0.68-0.83, I2 = 12%); for breast cancer, only tea consumption showed a significant reduction in risk. Dose-response meta-analysis revealed that each additional cup of coffee/tea significantly reduced the risk of colorectal and breast cancer progression (SHR = 0.93, 95% CI: 0.91-0.95, I2 = 0% and SHR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.81-0.99, I2 = 57%, respectively). No significant effects were observed for prostate cancer, while data on other sites were too limited.

Conclusion

This meta-analysis suggests a protective role for coffee and tea in cancer survival, particularly for colorectal cancer. However, further research is needed to better understand their effects on other cancer types.

LANDING, NEW JERSEY — Leading nutraceutical developer DolCas Biotech, LLC is expanding Morikol®, its marine collagen into the functional beverage space, particularly popular hot favorites such as coffee, cocoa, and tea. Morikol will be showcased at the upcoming SupplySide Global show in Las Vegas scheduled to take place on October 29-30.

Morikol is DolCas’ next-generation warm-water fish-derived collagen hydrolysate boasts an ultra-low molecular weight. It is designed to deliver clinically proven benefits at breakthrough low doses—just 1g daily for inside-out skin beauty and 2g daily for joint health.

Morikol delivers bio-active tripeptides GXY, the peptide fragments that make up the smallest functional unit of collagen. Morikol’s tripeptide composition is based on a trio of readily metabolized amino acids: glycine, proline, and (in smaller ratios) hydroxyproline. These essential building blocks of collagen are absorbed intact in the intestinal lining by unique transporter PEPT1.

Morikol’s proprietary enzymatic process further breaks down these small protein-chains, resulting in the precise delivery of targeted, very low molecular weight peptides in standardized, bioactive quantities.

The enzymes are subsequently deactivated, and the gelatinous material undergoes multiple stages of filtration and purification before being spray-dried into a fine, temperature-stable, water-soluble powder making it a perfect addition to the daily coffee routine.

“This cutting-edge formulation of small collagen peptides is completely flavorless and odorless and delivers outstanding bioavailability,” states K. G. Rao, founder and CEO of DolCas Biotech. “This means Morikol is not only more bioactive but also integrates seamlessly into a versatile range of foods, including hot and cold beverages, without altering the flavor, aroma, texture, or appearance. Morikol adds hidden wellness value to favorite daily indulgences such as coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and herbal infusions”.

DolCas

Collagen meets coffee

Morikol tripeptides are already a star feature in a functional formulation crafted by Cup of Joe, LLC’s Zend Wellness brand of fine roasted functional coffees. Last year, Zend launched MetaGlow™ Collagen, an all-natural, sugar-free marine collagen peptide complex composed of five branded ingredients including Morikol.

One scoop daily blended into any favorite beverage delivers clinically supported benefits for smoother looking skin, joint health, weight balance, and stress reduction.

“MetaGlow is already generating rave reviews,” adds Rao. “This opens opportunities for Morikol to enhance a wider range of beverage applications, including tea and herbal infusion sachets, powdered drink formulations, hot cocoa mixes, soft drinks, and more. Morikol presents a versatile choice for brands seeking to expand into the booming ‘beauty-from-within’ and joint-health markets through everyday beverages.” Blending sensory joy with wellness is a rapidly growing trend.

To meet consumer demands in this arena, the hot beverage and soft drinks markets are increasingly turning functional. This better-for-you beverage market is ripe for innovation.

Morikol collagen is the bee’s knees for skin and joints

A twelve week clinical trial endorses Morikol’s positive impact on skin elasticity and hydration, supporting its capabilities to help reduce wrinkles at a daily microdose of 1 gram. A second, animal study demonstrated Morikol’s ability to help protect the skin from sun-induced aging. A daily 2g dose was shown to reduce swelling and cracking of the joints within 10 weeks of supplementation. A significant improvement was noticed within 5 weeks. Morikol’s freely absorbable tripeptides reach damaged bone and tendons where they activate osteoblasts and fibroblasts to promote collagen synthesis and support the repair of connective tissues and bone.

According to the results of a recent survey by Innova Market Insights, consuming drinks with health benefits is among the top three ways consumers strive for self-sufficiency. The survey also revealed a 9% compound annual growth in the launch of beverages with health claims over the last five years. Concurrently, supplement launches with collagen ingredients has grown by 7%, especially in Europe where the collagen is appearing in hair, skin, and nail health supplements.

“While collagen is ubiquitous in the beauty-from-within market, it also has strong relevance to sports nutrition space helping maintain joint health against sports induced stress,” concludes Rao. “It can be easily infused into post exercise shots and shakes. Our product is clean label. It contains no added enhancers. It is simply 100% pure all-natural collagen.

NEW YORK, USA – This National Coffee Day, Nespresso and mental health nonprofit Project Healthy Minds came together to shed light on the profound connection between morning rituals, coffee habits, and mental wellbeing. A new omnibus survey with Kantar exploring how Americans start their day reveals insights into the significance of a mindful morning routine, and the role that coffee can play in creating a positive foundation for the day ahead.

The survey reveals coffee’s vital role in the lives of Americans, with more than 90% saying their morning routine impacts their mental wellness for the rest of the day, and 77% of respondents naming coffee a definitive part of their morning routines.

When asked why coffee is central to their morning routine, 33% say to kickstart focus and mental clarity, while a third say it enhances energy levels and fuels motivation for the day ahead. A fourth of respondents say their morning coffee provides a key moment of mindfulness before diving into daily demands.

“At Nespresso, we believe that coffee is more than a beverage—and the survey results show just how universal the value of a cherished coffee moment is,” said Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen, CEO, Nespresso North America. “This National Coffee Day, we are proud to collaborate with Project Healthy Minds to explore how the simple act of turning your coffee into a morning ritual can set the tone for a more mindful day, whether you’re fueling up for a busy day or seeking a quiet pause.”

The survey also found areas where Americans can create more intentional morning moments within busy routines, as the leading barrier to respondents dedicating more time to wellness-centered morning routines was a lack of time due to busy schedules.

Despite this challenge, 81% of respondents who allocate less than 30 minutes to their morning routines still include their morning coffee. However, 42% of respondents dedicate their limited morning time to scrolling through social media, nearly double the 23% who spend it meditating or engaging in quiet mindfulness. For those short on time, coffee can offer this brief yet meaningful opportunity to reset with quiet mindfulness, as 47% of Americans say their anxiety levels have increased in the past six months.

Phil Schermer, CEO and Founder, Project Healthy Minds, added: “This National Coffee Day, we’re thrilled to partner with Nespresso to highlight how simple daily rituals — like enjoying a cup of coffee — can support mental wellbeing. With nine in ten Americans saying their mornings shape their mental health, turning coffee into a small daily ritual is a simple step anyone can take.”

The survey also highlighted coffee’s pervasive cultural and generational appeal: Millennials (84%) and Gen Z (78%) were the most likely to make coffee a cornerstone of their mornings, while Baby Boomers were two times more likely than Gen Z to say including coffee in their morning routine is habit (53% vs 25%).

This National Coffee Day, Nespresso and Project Healthy Minds invite coffee lovers everywhere to set intentional routines that can pave the way for a healthier, happier day. Project Healthy Minds will host its fourth annual World Mental Health Day Festival on Friday, October 10 in New York City. As the world’s largest gathering on World Mental Health Day, the free, all-day event will feature influential voices discussing topics designed to reshape the future of mental health. Nespresso will be serving coffee throughout the day in its dedicated coffee lounge space and engaging attendees with a morning mantras exercise.

The omnibus study with Kantar surveyed 1,000 adults aged18-64 across the U.S. in a sample representative of recent U.S. Census data. Discover Nespresso’s range of premium coffee solutions, designed to elevate your daily rituals, at www.nespresso.com.

HONG KONG – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Food Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo, and Home Delights Expo successfully concluded on August 18. Food Expo PRO and the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, which opened to both industry professionals and the public for the first time, wrapped up successfully on 16 August.

The five exhibitions featured some 1,890 exhibitors and attracted over 500,000 visits. The bustling atmosphere resulted in a per capita spending of HK$1,630, once again demonstrating the appeal of this annual event and the public’s purchasing power.

Over at Food Expo PRO and the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, there were some 18,500 buyers from 64 countries and regions. Apart from Hong Kong, buyers came from Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, as well as ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, among others, highlighting Hong Kong’s significant role as a key food trade hub globally. Additionally, the International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine and Health Products, organised by the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association (MCMIA) together with the HKTDC and ten scientific research institutions, also concluded successfully on 15 August.

Sophia Chong, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated: “This year, the event featured five major themes across several exhibitions, complemented by a variety of exciting activities that encouraged people to spend locally. The atmosphere was vibrant, fully reflecting the public’s enthusiasm for gourmet food and trendy products. Due to weather conditions on the first day, the opening hours of the public fairs from Friday to Sunday were extended to provide exhibitors with greater opportunities to maximise sales and enhance visitor experiences. The Hong Kong International Tea Fair, which opened to the public over all three days for the first time, attracted significant attention and praise.”

Despite challenges from sluggish trade in traditional markets and geopolitical challenges, the HKTDC has consistently focused on driving innovation, helping small and medium-sized enterprises seize global development trends, and creating opportunities through innovative and flexible thinking.

Ms Chong added: “At this year’s Food Expo and Food Expo PRO, we specifically curated products and services related to halal food, the silver economy, and food technology to meet emerging market demands and capture more business opportunities for exhibitors. We are pleased to see that the five exhibitions successfully generated more business for exhibitors, and the public enjoyed the culinary and shopping experience fully.”

Per capita spending reached HK$1,630; increased interest in halal foods

During the exhibition, the organisers conducted a random sampling survey, interviewing some 1,440 visitors. The per capita spending reached HK$1,630. Over 58% of respondents reported spending HK$1,000 or more at the exhibition, and over 30% indicated that their actual spending exceeded their original budget, demonstrating a strong and thriving consumption atmosphere during the event.

The survey results also showed respondents believe that health, green and organic food (48%), and nutritional supplements (36%) trends are worth paying attention to. Among the respondents who are aware that the exhibition has a halal food and beverage label, more than half of the respondents (52%) believe it helps promote the development of halal foods.

Vibrant consumption at the exhibition: encouraging sales performance

As a highly anticipated annual event in the city, the Food Expo is dedicated to highlighting exquisite delicacies and fine wines from around the world. Director of exhibitor Yick Cheong Ho (HK) Limited, Joan Chui, stated that the Flavours of Intangible Cultural Heritage theme day has drawn extra interest and expected revenue of approximately HK$900,000.

Some exhibitors are further expanding their business through the Food Expo. Huaying Lei, the chairman of Mayang Blue Phoenix Agricultural Development Co., Ltd from Mainland China stated that the company had signed a RMB60 million contract with a Hong Kong client for agri-products including high-quality edible eggs. Lei believed the Food Expo offers a perfect platform to showcase their wide-ranging products from Hunan Province.

The concurrently held Beauty & Wellness Expo offered visitors a diverse range of premium products, with brand Mars, a Taiwan whey protein brand, the brand marketing manager Roy Wong said, “This year, the visitor traffic exceeded our expectations and we expect our on-site sales will increase by 30% to HK$200,000.”

The Home Delights Expo showcased a variety of trendy household items and furniture. Andy Tsang, the design director of Renovation Guide Consultant Limited – specialising in interior design and decoration and participating in the expo for the first time – said, “Such a large number of new customers visiting our booth went above and beyond our expectations. We provided quotations to over 20 new clients, and we estimate that sales turnover will be around HK$2-3 million.”

Trade exhibitions expand business networks; thriving opportunities in halal food

The 3rd Food Expo PRO and the 35th Food Expo introduced halal food and beverage label last year to help exhibitors expand their market for halal products. This year, more than 120 food suppliers showcased halal products from around the world, a 20% increase compared to last year. Daniel Chan, Director of Hong Kong exhibitor, Koon Chun Hing Kee Soy & Sauce Factory Ltd., said the company had seen many buyers from different countries and regions and discussed cooperations with five Mainland China and local distributors and restaurants and also met a buyer from Indonesia through the Click2Match platform.

The new “Coffee” zone also debuted this year, showcasing coffee products, accessories, and machines from various origins. Jin Lu, Operations Director of CSFA Holdings Shanghai Co. Ltd., stated that the company has engaged with nine exhibitors from Mainland China, the U.S., South Korea, and other regions. The company is interested in placing a coffee beans order of approximately 50 metric tons (worth around RMB3 million) from a Yunnan-based supplier, as well as a RMB700,000 order for premium hairtail fish from a Korea exhibitor.

The highlight zone, “Food Science and Technology,” brought alternative and future food to the attention of professional buyers. My Care Healthcare Limited, a manufacturer of modified soft diet products for the elderly. Founder Francis Ho said they had discussions with nearly 120 buyers on the first day. On the last day of the fair, HKTDC arranged specialised medical industry buyer tours of which there were two potential buyers and the company is in talks with two hospitals to discuss the potential of supplying soft meals to them.

The Okinawa Prefectural Government Hong Kong Representative Office organised four Okinawan companies to participate in the Food Expo PRO and successfully connected with buyers from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and international markets. Director Yasutoshi Nohara stated the fair helps them generate around HK$4 million in orders every year. Mr Nohara said the expo has been instrumental in providing them with a great opportunity, particularly to introduce Okinawan products in the Greater Bay Area and expand beyond Hong Kong with items that have not been shown in other markets before, such as soft shell turtle and Motobu beef.

Sichuan Sentaiyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has participated in the Food Expo PRO for four consecutive years, promoting healthy products.

The company’s CEO, Liu Lei shared, “On the first day of the Expo, we met a long-time Hong Kong client in person for the first time, leading to a successful deal worth over US$5 million. The HKTDC also introduced several potential buyers from Japan, Singapore, and other regions and we expect deals to be finalised soon.” Mr Lei also mentioned that through the hktdc.com Sourcing platform, the company received around 30 inquiries before the expo and arranged on-site meetings with several clients. The “EXHIBITION+” hybrid model has significantly boosted the company’s visibility and secure more business opportunities.

The Hong Kong International Tea Fair opened to trade and public visitors on all three days for the first time. Yip Wing-chi, Founder of exhibitor, Lock Cha Tea House, welcomed this arrangement and noted that there was a significant increase in traffic, creating a lively atmosphere. The public participation has effectively boosted business. Mr Yip said this year’s sales were three times higher than last year.

Hybrid model connecting local and overseas opportunities

This year, both Food Expo PRO and the Hong Kong International Tea Fair continued to adopt the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, enabling global food and tea buyers to engage in business discussions through both physical exhibitions and online platforms. Until 23 August, exhibitors and buyers can still utilise the “Click2Match” smart matching platform for online discussion and to explore business opportunities.

Chinese medicine conference gathers experts and scholars to promote industry exchange

The International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine and Health Products, organised by the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association in partnership with the HKTDC and ten scientific research institutions, has successfully concluded. The conference unveiled the latest professional information on traditional Chinese medicine and shared innovative achievements and development trends in the globalisation of Chinese medicine.

Held concurrently with the Food Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo, Home Delights Expo, Food Expo PRO, and the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, the event covered diverse fields such as food, beauty, health, home products, and Chinese medicine, successfully creating a synergistic effect, providing a broad platform for industry exchange.

To examine the relationship between coffee intake, including the amount of added sugar and saturated fat, and mortality among U.S. adults.

Methods

We conducted a prospective cohort study using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2018, linked to National Death Index Mortality Data. The study included 46,332 adults aged 20 years and older who completed valid first-day 24-hour dietary recalls. Coffee consumption was categorized by type (caffeinated or decaffeinated) and by sugar (<2.5g per 8-oz), and saturated fat content (<1g per 8-oz). Mortality outcomes included all-cause, cancer, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality.

Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for mortality risk based on type, intake levels (non-drinkers, <1 cup/day, 1 to <2 cups/day, 2 to <3 cups/day, and ≥3 cups/day) and the amount of added sugar and saturated fat.

Results

Over a median follow-up of 9.3 to 11.3 years, a total of 7,074 deaths occurred, including 1,176 cancer-specific and 1,089 CVD-specific deaths. Higher coffee consumption was associated with lower all-cause mortality (HR [95% CI]: 0.89 [0.78, 1.02] for < 1 cup/d; 0.84 [0.77, 0.92] for 1 to <2 cups/d; 0.83 [0.75,0.93] for 2 to < 3 cups/d; and 0.85 [0.77, 0.95] for ≥3 cups/day; P-trend= 0.004). However, the mortality benefits were restricted to black coffee (HR [95% CI]: 0.86 [0.77, 0.97]) and coffee with low added sugar and saturated fat content (HR [95% CI]: 0.86 [0.75,0.99]).

Conclusion

The health benefits of coffee consumption may be diminished when sugar and saturated fat are added.

The benefits of caffeine

MILAN  – To explore the state-of-the-art evidence on the effect of caffeine consumption on the development and progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a significant cause of blindness worldwide.

Methods

Eligible primary clinical studies published up to 15 June 2024 were included and appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tools for cohort and case-control studies. The available data were then analyzed using random-effects meta-analysis and effect direction-based vote-counting (PROSPERO CRD42023451237).

Results

Five studies (9318 patients) were included in this systematic review, three of which investigated the effect of caffeine intake on the development of AMD and two on AMD progression.

Caffeine intake from coffee or other beverages showed no significant association with the occurrence of early (adjusted odds ratio 1.11 [95% confidence interval 0.93-1.33], I2 = 0.0%) or late AMD. On the other hand, vote-counting analysis indicated that caffeine consumption, mainly tea, may prevent and hinder disease progression, potentially in a dose-dependent manner.

Conclusion

The limited available evidence suggests that caffeine consumption may deter and impede the progression of AMD. In contrast, the protective effect of caffeine consumption on the development of AMD remains uncertain. Further prospective, large-scale studies exploring the effects and dose-response relationship of various caffeine beverages across a broader spectrum of AMD and populations are warranted to corroborate our findings.

VEVEY, Switzerland – Muscle recovery is an essential part of any fitness routine. Exercise can put increased stress on skeletal muscle fibers, causing soreness and fatigue. If the body does not properly repair and rebuild its muscles after exercising, it can negatively affect training and performance.

Nestlé scientists have developed Muscle Repair+, a new bioactive nutritional supplement to accelerate muscle repair and regeneration after exercise. This innovation is designed to support physically active adults and athletes seeking support for muscle recovery. It utilizes a novel combination of the vitamin B-related nutrients nicotinamide and pyridoxine, which enhances muscle cell repair and muscle stem cell activity, and also supports cellular recovery after exercise.

Nestlé scientists published this bioactive blend of nutrients in the Journal of Clinical Investigation in collaboration with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – Institut NeuroMyoGène in Lyon and other external partners.

Dr. Jérôme Feige, Senior Expert in musculo-skeletal health at Nestlé Research: “Skeletal muscles rely on local stem cells for repair and regeneration after exercise or injury. We screened over 50 000 natural molecules and identified that nicotinamide and pyridoxine can work together to activate these cells and help muscles regenerate faster and recover more strength.”

Based on this work, the nicotinamide and pyridoxine bioactive blend was tested clinically for muscle regeneration after intense exercise in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. Clinical trial results were presented at the International Biochemistry of Exercise Conference, the EMBO muscle biology conference and the Society for Muscle Biology conference.

These scientific findings were translated into the launch of Muscle Repair+ in the United States under the Pure Encapsulations brand from Nestlé Health Science. The innovation builds on Nestlé’s efforts to explore science-based nutritional solutions to support muscle health, including age-related muscle loss and physical fatigue.

Eugenia Oton, Head of Research and Development for Nestlé Health Science: “Consumers increasingly understand the essential role that good nutrition plays in any muscle recovery strategy. This bioactive supplement underscores our commitment to developing nutritional solutions for specific health needs that are backed by verifiable science.”
